https://commonmark.org/ via https://github.com/readthedocs/commonmark.py? This would replace the more loosely-defined Markdown support, probably necessitate some rewriting of content, and potentially even nix the extensions (which wouldn't be the worst thing, as long as I can still do my pydot "syntax" codeblock). To investigate.
